Fifty shades my way

 

Objective

To design a series of three book covers to represent a reissue from the same publisher and the same design firm selected to redesign the books. Each book cover should be different from the other, yet all need to have common elements to tie them together.

Approach
I redesigned the covers of the Fifty Shades of Grey series, by unifying the background color, typography and illustration style, while having different elements to signify each book.

 

I chose the main color of the covers to be black to represent dark sexual fantasies with minimal line illustration in just a different shades of black. Each illustrated parts of the body that would be covered/tied-up in such fantasies, and the sleeve wrapping around he book in bold daring colors represents the rope used to tie those parts.
